About us

Albert Einstein once said that the only thing constant is change. It is true for nature, but also in society. Unfortunately, there are many alarming signs that this change is taking an unpleasant turn. Intolerance and hostility is flourishing and the living conditions for the people who have little are getting worse. On top of that, humans are destroying mother earth in a pace never seen before. Despite all the efforts and decades of lobbying from the eco-movement, the greenhouse gas emissions are still increasing.

What?

Sailing for harmony is a project that wants to pull the emergency break and show that we can influence the trajectory of this change to take a different path. A path guided by sustainability, solidarity and compassion. We believe such a path will lead to a much better place to live for all of us.

How?

Most people realise a change is needed to save the planet. Yet most people remain passive, why is that? Of course there are lots of answers but one contributing factor is that people in general are limited by the present system. It is difficult to see outside the box. And even if they intellectually understand that change is needed, many people perceive that they are restrained and unable to contribute. Think about the elephant tied to a pole with a tiny string of rope. Clearly it can easily break loose, but does not because in its mind it believes it is restrained with a big chain.

With this project we want to break the mental chains restraining us and show that everyone can help save the planet. By profoundly changing our own lives and taking a leave from our jobs, selling most of our stuff, living in less than 15 m2 and getting by with a minimal budget – we hope to inspire others to evaluate their own lives. Hopefully, they too will make changes away from over-consumption and instead embrace more time with loved ones and meetings with new cultures to deepen their understanding of the world we all live in. We want to deliver this message through a sailing adventure around the world to convey the beauty of mother earth and the warmth of the people we meet, to spread a wind of compassion. Sustainable power sources like wind and sun are essential parts for us be able to inspire the conservative boating community to embrace green alternatives, e.g. electric propulsion.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
